What Colours Should I Use For Line Marking? (Pictures included)
There is a lot of colours available when it comes to warehouse & factory line marking, so you probably are not sure which colours to use where in your factory or warehouse.
Companies that have a Lean Manufacturing program will often have a lot of line markings for different stages in the manufacturing, so having a choice is important.
Ultimately the choice is yours, but feel free to use this guide.
YELLOW – Use to define safe walkways or demarcating other areas.

RED – Use for dangerous areas or emergency exits and fire equipment.

GREEN – Use for safe areas, like an eye-wash area or even safe walkways where there is no interaction with moving plant and equipment.

BLUE – Use blue line markings for work in progress areas or any other markings for certain areas in a manufacturing facility.

WHITE – Often used for production areas and specifically locations of trollys, forklifts or other machines.
BLACK – Use for finished goods areas or beside another colour to give contrast.
ORANGE – Use orange in a machinery parts storage area or similar. Can also be used for various markings of items in a factory.
HAZARD BLACK & YELLOW – Use for extra caution areas, like a walkway in a hazardous area or to warn employees of hazards.

RED & WHITE – Use for safety equipment areas such as, fire hydrants and extinguishers or electrical panels.

The possibilities are endless really, but it is important to make sure you set the standard first and explain to your employees that are using the areas what the different colours mean. Otherwise the different colours will be pointless.
