A Workshop Floor Can Look Like This Even 18 Months Later

Recently, one of our team visited an Isuzu workshop in Queensland to check on an epoxy floor coating we installed around 18 months ago.

Following up on completed projects is something we genuinely enjoy. It gives us the chance to see how our flooring performs in real working environments and, more importantly, learn from the people using it every day.

How well has the coating lasted?

The workshop manager pointed out that some areas were beginning to show signs of wear.

That wasn’t surprising.

They have created a layout with dedicated service bays, meaning some sections experience far more vehicle traffic, equipment use and daily activity than others.

The result? The highest-use areas showed the most wear, while the rest of the floor looks nearly as good as new.

This was a smart approach. If the high-use areas ever need recoating in the future, they can simply refresh those sections instead of paying to have the entire workshop floor redone.

Then he said “Looking back, we should have considered adding an anti-slip additive in some areas” however initially they just wanted an easy to clean surface.

While that goal was achieved, they have noticed truck tyres occasionally skid when the floor is wet – a classic example of balancing cleanability and slip resistance.

There’s no one-size-fits-all flooring solution, so it’s important to weigh up the pros and cons of each option and decide what matters most for your workshop.

Every workshop is different

You need to understand how your workshop operates, where vehicles travel, how the space is cleaned and what your team needs from the floor every day.

That’s why we always recommend a site consultation before we can suggest a system that performs best in your environment.

If your floor is stained, cracked, difficult to clean or simply showing its age, it might be time to ask whether it’s helping your operations – or holding them back.
