What is Slip Resistant Flooring and Line Marking?
Let’s talk about slip resistant flooring and safety line marking.
Slip resistance is a big subject when in comes to floor coatings and line marking, especially in areas that can get wet and/or have gradient/slope.
All liquid applied products can have different slip ratings depending on the application.
This is done by applying different size granules to the product to give a textured surface and therefore extra slip resistance.
The larger the granule the higher the slip rating normally.
Keep in mind also, over time the slip rating can change with wear.
The best way to help maintain the slip rating as best as possible is to keep the surface clean.
Testing the floor or line marking every year or so is a good way to ensure the rating is still at the required rating.
Insitu testing is done by pendulum testing(see photo below) to give a rating from P0 which is the least slip resistant to P5 which is the highest rating.

We can provide samples of different ratings prior to non-slip flooring coating installation and slip testing after the commercial floor non-slip application to confirm the rating has been met.
